What is a “Guideline B” Foreign Influence, are you a threat to National Security?

Department of Defense Directive 5220.6 became effective on March 16, 1992. This Defense Directive essentially outlines the various reasons that the Federal Government may have to revoke or take away someone’s Security Clearance. “Guideline B” details what is considered to be a foreign influence. In other words, if you have Security Clearance the Federal Government could call in to question your Clearance based on Foreign Influence and deem you a threat to National Security.
A Foreign Influence is considered to be in question and a threat to National Security when an individual’s immediate family, including cohabitants, and other persons to whom he or she may be bound by affection, influence, or obligation are not citizens of the United States or may be subject to duress. These situations could create the potential for foreign influence that could result in the compromise of classified information. Contacts with citizens of other countries or financial interests in other countries are also relevant to security determinations if they make an individual potentially vulnerable to coercion, exploitation, or pressure.
One of my previous clients was facing a Guideline B Foreign Influence Statement of Reasons, luckily he called a dedicated Security Clearance Lawyer. I meticulously listened to his circumstances, got all the facts and put together a splendid package for the Federal Government to review. My client had been born in another country, most of his family was from another country. He was an interpreter for the military and other federal contractors. He had been serving the United States and its interest for decades and I was able to put together the information needed to retain his Security Clearance so that he would not be deemed by the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals as a threat to National Security. If you have received a Statement for Reasons you should call me for your free consultation. I provide free consultations either on the phone, over Skype, Zoom, Facetime or in person. If my client had lost his Security Clearance that would not have been good for him or his family as he was the primary bread winner with a lucrative Federal Contractor job.
Please note that none of the foregoing should be taken as legal advice and if you have a legal matter you should most likely contact an attorney, even if you decide not to call me you should probably still get in contact with some lawyer.
